Kerry Brown

Good morning Grandson,

There will be a few people in life you will bond with, most of which will be Family. There are many reasons we develop a close relationships with people outside Family too. I have a special relationships with Joe and Stu because we served in the Military together, went to school together, and were roommates. Bubba Layson and I fish together and served in the Church together. Ken Piper and I have a close relationship founded on competition and respect. There are some from school like Juan Munoz and Aaron Warburton, others from work like Matt Wallitner and Randy Stockman, and even a couple from that neighborhood I grew up in named Steve and Tim.

I hope you find friends like the ones I have been blessed to list. Friends that will sit with you through tough times, see you for who you are down deep and stand with you anyway. There are others but none have a place in my heart like this guy.

He and I have shared many different experiences together. Many have to do with fishing and boating, and we have spent our share or time waist deep in the fishing holes around western Washington fantasizing about that next giant Chinook Salmon we were going to yank out of the river. We've limited on halibut off the Canadian coast at a place called 'Blue Dot". Killed it in Illwaco fishing for Sturgeon. Drove 3 hours each way to fish the Tootle river along the foothills of Mt. St Helens. Surfing our boat down huge waves in the mouth of the Johns river. Fishing the Bar at westport. Whale watching in the San Juans with our wives. We share a love for a lady on Lopez Island named Holly B. She makes the greatest Peach-Marion berry Danish of all time.

Names that turn our heads and draw a secret smile include: James Island, Fishermans bay, Carbon, Satsup, Skycomish, skookumchuck, Tootle, Puyallup, Green, Buoy 10, Wash away beach, Johns river, West Port, Neah Bay, Point defiance, and Quartermaster Harbor. These are just a few places we fish, crab, and boat.

All those fun things just scratch the surface of moments we have shared. Sure those times were fun and the pictures and memories will live as long as we do. There are other times less reminisced about, but way more important. Times like running wire at 3am just 12 hours before an important Church event, 3 days straight setting up for Youth Conference, rigging fireworks for weeks and cleaning up afterwards, fussing with Police and violent neighbors about noise complaints, Permit applications with the county, working on sound gear, video systems, setting up tables and chairs, serving hot dogs, stacking pallets, hauling porta potties, and the list goes on. Those times spent working in the Church are the ones that matter. Those times spent in service for others are the ones that bind men.

This baby is you at 8 weeks and this man is my best friend. His Name is Kerry Brown and he is the Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Williams California.

You will know him as Grandpa

Good morning Grandson,

I've really fallen down over the few weeks with updates. I will do the best I can to fill in the blanks for you.

Today you are 7 weeks old and weigh a little over 12lbs.

You started smiling at 4 weeks and giggling about a week ago.

You rolled over for the first time last Sunday the 20th of April 2012.

You make great eye contact and love listening to people talk to you.

You hold yourself up and are very active with your arms and legs.

You don't seem normal to me in the way you just 'hang out". We put you in the swing, car seat, or just on a chair and you will sit there for an hour or more.

You are sitting on the kitchen counter with Momma and Grandma while they cook breakfast. You are reaching for your toys but can't quite reach them yet.

Momma is doing good. She is getting out a little more and meeting new friends. Church offers a lot of activities for single people and she is starting to go to more of those events.

You have been getting lots of mail from the UPS man:

The O'Conners sent you Blanket.
Mrs "C" sent you a box for all your treasures along with an airplane toy.
Uncle Josh and Aunt Andrea sent you some clothes and your first musical toy.
Great Grandma Brown sent you a Noah's Ark toy.
Great Grandma Mathews sent a box full of clothes you will wear over the next year.
Great Grandpa Bass "Poppy" sent you some old camera's from his collection.

Here are some pictures of you and our family activities from the last few weeks.

The sweetest lady of all time

Young Emmett,

Meet your Great-Great Grandma. Let me make this make more sence to you if I can. Your Momma's name is Jess, her Momma (your Grandma) is Wendy and she lives with me here in Florida, Wendy's Momma's name is Sue (Your Great Grandma who lives in Oysterville. Wa) and Sues Momma's name is Margie. Margie lives in the way out in the high desert in southern California. She has been married 2 times, both wonderful men who past away before their time. More on those two guys another time.

Margie and Faye are sisters. You might remember you met Faye and Vergil a few Posts ago, they live in San Pedro California near Long beach.

You will love her for her candy and apple turnovers. You will love where she lives for the adventure, sunrises, jackrabbits, stars, and Joshua Trees. You may find Great-Great grandma Margie and Grandma to have a very similar personality, I do. Always a smile from those two.

Be ALERT because she will try and squeeze your face off when you're not looking!

She is a treasure to our Family.

5 weeks old update

Good Morning Grandson,

Sorry I've missed a couple days. I have a ton of new pix to post and a few stories to tell about what I've been up to over the last couple weeks, but I will post those some other time.

Momma:   Still having a tough time feeding you. You are a very good baby and don't give us much trouble except for food and diaper duty.

Your Birth Announcements came today along with your first pictures. They are beautiful.

Emotion is high for her this week regarding a proposed visit from your Dad and his Parents. They will be here in late April and stay for 3 days.

She is working one day a week at the birth center and plans to enroll in college starting next fall.

Your baby shower is in a couple weeks and she is looking forward to that. She will see some college friends, family, neighbors and ladies from Church. A friend from down the street, Julia, is hosting.

Grandma is working at the birth center every tuesday and on call for birth duty every other week. This keeps her mind occupied most of the time but like your Momma and I, she is having a bit of a tough time right now.

I took a road trip last week and went to an airshow in Lakeland. I also went to a Yankees game Friday night. I enjoyed my "man-cation" but missed you and the girls a ton. I like being home right now more than traveling. Sounds sad but it's true.

We are using the pool more now that the weather is getting warmer. Now that the sun is higher in the sky it has warmed the pool water by more than 10 degrees. Today it's sunny breezy and temps will reach the high 80's. Yesterday was just like this and I expect tomorrow will be also. You love the wind, water, and sun.

You and I get a walk or two every day and most evenings or mornings we get to sit and chat. I need to start reading to you soon. I wonder what I should get first.

The next 2 months will be busy with visitors:

Last week in April you will meet your Dad and his Parents from California.

May - you will meet your Aunt Katlynn. She will be here for a few weeks.
I hope you will see Joe and Deborah during this time.
Late May your Great Grand Parents (My Mom and Dad) will visit for a week.
Great Aunt Wendy and Uncle Eddie Vaughn from PA will visit.
Great Aunt Joy and Art will visit at that time also.

You are loved young grandson,

Poppy
